Light: Partial shade is ideal for the bloodgood maple tree. In hotter climates, more shade is better for the tree to prevent any scorched leaves.
Soil: Well drained soil that is slightly acidic with a pH of 5.0 to 7.0 is recommended. To help retain moisture in the soil, add layers of mulch on top.
Water: First year of planting, water the tree 2-3 times a week. Once the tree has been established, water only when the weather has been hot or dry for an etended period of time.
