The venus flytrap is a carnivorous plant that has two hinged lobes at the end of each leaf that snaps down on any insect that triggers the trichomes. The lobes have these small bristles that resembles sharp teeth that interlock in order to trap the prey within the lobes.

  • Light: Place your venus flytrap in a location where it receives 12 hours of light daily.

    Soil: Venus flytraps like wet, acidic nutrient poor soil. You can mimic this with a peat based potting mix and well drained soil. 

    Water: It is recommended to water them with rainwater rather than tap water. In the absence of rainwater, use distilled water.
